Back from winter holidays in ALERT found us continuing to work on our architecture projects. Students picked up where they left off, which included some kids being able to glue their house pieces together, while others finished their blueprints so their house could be cut. Next week these students will work on their roofing. In math we made nets, which are what 3D shapes look like in a 2D flat paper layout. We analyzed the faces, edges, and vertices, and made connections to architecture. This activity will come in especially handy when students start making the roof for their house.
